Huawei has been pretty aggressive with the Honor branding and has released some great phones in this sub-brand. The Honor 7i is the latest device which was announced back in August. Honor 7i which features a 5.2 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080p) display and is powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor and is also a 64 bit processor
The unique or stand out feature of the phone is the flip camera, this means the camera can be rotated 180 degrees to make it a selfie camera. So the rear camera can be used as the front facing camera. We had a chance to test out the device and here are our impressions.
Here is a quick hands on video of the device.
Design-wise, there are lots of similarities to the Honor 6 and 6 Plus especially in the rear panel. Since the device has a 5.2 inch display, it is pretty compact to hold and features an all metal body. The front panel has the earpiece, 5.2 inch Full HD display and three on-screen buttons. On the left side, there is a fingerprint scanner. The right side houses the SIM tray, the power and volume keys. The 3.mm audio jack is on the top while the micro USB charging slot and the speaker are located at the bottom.
The rear panel has 13MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash and it has a rotating mechanism. You can rotate the rear camera to the top and make it the front facing camera as well. The rotating mechanism is pretty smooth and easy to use.
The build quality and finishing looks good. The display is a 1080p 5.2 inch panel and the brightness levels weren’t impressive. While using the device under bright sunlight, hardly anything was visible. The brightness levels should have been better.
The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 with EMUI 3.1 and it is upgradable to Android 6.0 with EMUI 4.0. The phone runs on Snapdragon 616 Octa-core chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM and the performance in the initial usage was very good.
The phone has 3100mAh battery and has 4G LTE and dual-SIM cards. The phone comes in white and gold colors. There is no mention on release dates in India as of now.
