Last November, Xiaomi had announced the successor of Redmi Note 2, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The new Note 3 comes with an all metal body and has fingerprint scanner. Today, the company has announced a second variant of Redmi Note 3 running the Snapdragon SoC. The new Redmi Note 3 comes with a the same 5.5 inch Full HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 650 Octa Core chipset (Mediatek Helio X10 on the other variant).
The new model also comes with a 16MP camera when compared to the 13MP shooter on previous model.
The phone is coupled with 2GB or 3GB RAM. The internal storage is either 16GB or 32GB and there is no expansion slot available on the phone. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the first Mi phone to get a full metal body and fingerprint sensor. On the imaging front, the device comes with 16MP rear camera with Phase Detection Auto focus and also dual tone LED flash.
On the software side the phone comes with MIUI 7 with Android Lollipop. The fingerprint sensor on the rear panel can unlock the device in 0.3 seconds according to the company.
The phone also comes with 4000mAh battery and has dual SIM card and 4G LTE support. It comes in three colors- Silver, Gold and Dark grey. The Snapdragon powered Redmi Note 3 pricing starts at RMB 999, an increase of RMB 100 when compared to Mediatek powered. The pricing roughly converts to Rs 10,200 INR.
Xiaomi also posted that Redmi Note 3 will be coming to India soon and they are looking for 100 explorers to test it. We expect the company to launch the Snapdragon powered Redmi Note 3 in India as the company has licensing issues with Mediatek devices. Redmi Note 3 might be launched towards the end of February or early March in India.
