Along with the release of Honor 5X, Huawei also announced the budget device, the Honor Holly 2 Plus in India. The Honor Holly was first announced in 2014 and was a very good device for the price and now the Honor Holly 2 Plus is announced by the company with impressive specs. The device is powered by MediaTek MT6735P 64-bit quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with a Mali-T720 MP3 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Here is the unboxing and first impressions of the device.

The Honor Holly 2 Plus has got a different design when compared to the Honor Holly from 2014. This has got a curved rear panel with a textured finishing and cross lines. This actually gives a good grip on the phone. The rear panel has 13MP camera, LED flash and honor branding. The sides of the device, although made of plastic is given a chrome finishing to give a metallic look. While it delivers to an extent, it does not give a premium feel with the finishing.
At the bottom, you can see speaker grills along with micro USB slot although it comes with only one speaker. The top portion houses the 3.5 mm audio jack while the right side has power and volume keys. The feedback of the keys is good. The front panel has 5 inch HD display, front camera, sensors and the three on-screen buttons. The rear panel is removable and underneath is the 4000mAh non-removable battery, dual SIM card slots, and micro SD expansion slot.
The Honor Holly 2 Plus comes with a 5 inch HD display (1280 X 720p) and has decent colors and viewing angles. But similar to Honor 5X, there is no protection offered on the display and it is a fingerprint magnet as there is no coating on the display. Honor has probably tried to reduce the cost of the device these aspects. The touch response is also not very smooth, but acceptable levels.
The phone comes with 16GB internal storage and out of which 10.5GB is available to the user in the first boot. You can also increase the storage using the SD card. The phone has a 4000mAh high capacity battery which also supports reverse charging.
The device is powered by quad-core MediaTek MT6735P SoC and 2GB of RAM with Mali-T720 GPU. It has Android 5.1 Lollipop with EMUI 3.1 and the performance in the initial use was decent, we didn’t notice any major issues in the first few hours of usage. We will have a detailed review of the device coming up soon, so stay tuned.
The phone has 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with LED flash. The video recording is just limited to 720p which is kind of disappointing.
