At the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016), Gionee has announced the company’s flagship device, the S8 which is the successor to last year’s Elife S7. Unlike the E series phones from the company, the S series is known for its slim profile and the S8 also has a slim design. Gionee S8 has an all metal unibody design called loop full Metal design and has no visible antennas on the outside.
The device comes with 5.5-inch SUPER AMOLED Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and there is Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The device runs on 64 bit processor Helio P10 from MediaTek’s clocked at 1.7Ghz and is an Octa core processor. The device has 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.
The phone has 16MP rear camera f1.8 aperture, laser + phase detect autofocus and RWB technology for reduced noise. There is also dual tone LED flash. The front facing camera on the device is an 8MP shooter. The phone has Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with company’s custom Amigo UI 3.2 on top of it.
The Gionee S8 also comes with 3D force touch which Apple enabled on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. There is also option for live wallpapers on the display. The phone also comes with invisible antenna. The Gionee S8 comes with a physical home button and the fingerprint scanner is integrated into it.
The phone skips micro SD expansion slot, but comes with good connectivity options including 4G+, VoLTE, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB port. The phone comes with 3000mAh battery and it comes with fast charging included.
The phone comes in three colors, Rose Gold, Grey and Gold variants. The phone is priced 449 Euro and this device should come to India pretty soon.
