Back in August last year, Obi Worldphone had launched two new devices, the SF1 and SJ1.5 and the SF1 later made it to India in November. Today, at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, the company has announced its latest budget offering the MV1.
Similar to SF1, the MV1 emphasises on the design aspect with the slightly raised polycarbonate unibody design. The phone comes with a 5 inch HD display (1280 X 720p) and runs on Snapdragon 212 budget processor with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM.
The phone runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and Cyanogen OS 12.1.1. The device is equipped with 8MP rear camera with LED flash and front facing 2MP front facing camera for video calls. The device is equipped with 2500mAh battery and has dual SIM cards, 4G LTE.
There is 16GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card to 64GB.
The Obi Worldphone MV1 comes in red, white and black colors and is primarily intended for emerging markets. The device is priced at $139 for 1GB RAM variant and the 2GB RAM variant is priced $149. The phone will be available in Asia and Africa starting from this month and will be made available in Latin America and Europe in March 2016.
