Sony has announced the new line up of Android smartphones in the X series at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. The three new devices announced are Sony Xperia x, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance. Out of the three, the X Performance is the most powerful of the lot with a Snapdragon 820 Quad Core processor.
The new trio in the X series comes with design similar to Z series and a premium metal finish with a rectangular chassis and rounded edges. The Xperia X Performance comes with a Full HD display (1080p) which is a Triluminos Display.
The Xperia X Performance also comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage which is expandable to 200GB via micro SD card. The device is equipped with 23MP rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, f/2.0 sensor, Predictive Hybrid AF and 1080p video recording. The front camera is a whopping 13MP unit with 22mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens and 1080p video recording. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the side along with high-res audio support with a dedicated DAC.
On the other hand, the Xperia X features a 1080p display and is powered by Snapdragon 650 Hexa core processor making it a mid range phone. It is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The camera is the same available on the X performance. There is also fingerprint scanner located on the side.
Both the Xperia X and X Performance comes with 2700mAh battery with Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging. These phones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and features dual SIM cards, 4G LTE and regular connectivity options.
The cheapest of the three is the Xperia XA which features 5 inch HD display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6755 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. There is expansion slot to increase the storage. The camera on the XA is a 13MP rear unit and an 8MP front camera for selfies. Xperia XA also misses on the fingerprint scanner. The phone runs Android 6.0 and has 2300mAh battery.
Xperia X Performance, Xperia X and Xperia XA will be available in green, white, black and Rose Gold. There is no mention on the pricing yet.
