Ather Energy, a Bangalore based company, has announced India’s first smart electric scooter at the SURGE Conference in Bangalore. This is a completely ‘Made in India’ product and comes with a classy design which looks futuristic and distinct from the currently available scooters in India.
It has an intelligent design along with Aluminium chassis and swing arm which reduces the weight by around 25% and the scooter is just 85kg in weight. It is the first smart electric scooter in India as most of the them run on standard fuel (Petrol).
It can sync with your Android smartphone using the app and provides access to ride data. It also comes with a touch screen dashboard which has GPS navigation and also provides vehicle details, all in an intuitive display. You can create your own profiles and set riding modes. It runs on Lithium Ion battery packs made indigenously and comes with smart monitoring for low battery.
It also comes with theft detection and remote monitoring of the charging using the mobile app. There is also auto indicators. Unlike the normal electric scooters, the S340 also comes with smart charging using a 5A power source and can be charged fully in just one hour compared to 6-8 hours on regular electric scooters.
Inspired by high performance bikes, the S340 is designed with a balanced Front- Rear weight ratio and a rear mono shock suspension. Coupled with a Zero Lateral Offset and Low Center of Gravity, the S340 has the stability to negotiate even the meanest of city conditions. The S340 has a smart LED headlamp that switches on automatically and controls light intensity based on ambient light conditions.
There are two riding modes- Sports and Economy and it can reach a maximum speed of 72Kmph. At present, on a full charge, the S340 can travel 80km at a fixed speed of 40 kmph. This would translate to a real-life range of approximately 60 km in city conditions. The Lithium-ion battery pack will last approximately 50,000km, at which point 80% of the original charge capacity will still be retained. The S340 needs approximately 2.8 units of electricity for a full charge which comes to around 15-16 Rs.
The company will be offering door step delivery and servicing of the scooter. The company is also opening up the pre-order of the scooter on their website and will be available in Bangalore, Chennai and Pune.
