Vivo Mobiles has finally announced the Vivo XPlay 5, the first phone to feature 6GB RAM. The phone comes in two variant, the base variant and the Ultimate edition which has the 6GB RAM. The Vivo X Play 5 comes with a 5.43-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super AMOLED display with dual curved edge and Corning Gorilla glass protection.
While the XPlay 5 is a mid range phone, the X Play 5 Ultimate is the flagship device for the company.
The Vivo X Play 5 Ultimate is powered by Snapdragon 820 Quad core chipset coupled with a whopping 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone comes with a rear 16MP (Sony IMX298) snapper with phase-detection AF and dual-tone LED flash, plus an 8MP selfie camera at the front. The Xplay 5 Ultimate supports dual-SIM cards, supports LTE networks, Hi-Fi 3.0 (2*ES9028+OPA1612), and comes with a 3,600 mAh battery.
There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back panel. The phone comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with custom Fun Touch OS from the company. The phone is made of Aluminium Magnesium alloy and looks premium.
On the other hand, the X Play 5 comes with same display but is powered by mid range processor, the Snapdragon 652 Octa core processor with 4GB of RAM. The Hi-Fi chip configuration is also of a different kind – CS4395+AD45257 on this phone.
The Snapdragon 652 Soc will retail for 3,698 Yuan ($565) and the Vivo Xplay 5 Ultimate Edition with 6 GB of RAM and Snapdragon 820 will be available for 4,288 Yuan ($655). The phone comes in two color options: Rose Gold or Champagne Gold. The standard model is available for pre-order right now and the Ultimate Edition will reportedly go on sale on March 8.
