Samsung has launched the latest flagship phones, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India. These devices were first announced at the MWC 2016 last month in Barcelona. The new Samsung Galaxy S7 will come with a 5.1 inch Quad HD Display which has a Super AMOLED panel with 2560×1440 resolution and 577PPI. The Galaxy S7 Edge on the other hand comes with a bigger 5.5 inch Quad HD display.
Both these devices are powered by Exynos Octa Core processor in India and will not come with the more powerful Snapdragon 820. These devices come with 4GB of RAM.
The storage available is 32GB and unlike the Galaxy S6, the new S7 features micro SD expansion slot as well. On the imaging front the phones comes with 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 and dual pixel sensor, generally found on DSLR. The front camera is at 5MP. The rear camera comes with Smart OIS. On the software side, the phones come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung’s touchwiz UI.
Both the devices are IP68 dust and water resistant. While the S7 features a 3000mAh battery, the S7 Edge comes with 3600mAh battery which is considerable increase from last year’s capacity of 2550 and 2600 respectively. There is also wireless charging included on these devices along with fast charging. On the connectivity front, the phones come with Bluetooth version 4.2 LE, ANT+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), and USB 2.0. The company has skipped the USB C type port, but included NFC for payments.
The new phones will come in three colors: Silver titanium, black onyx, and gold platinum.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is priced Rs 48,900 while the S7 Edge is priced Rs 56,900. Pre-order for these devices starts today and Samsung will be providing free VR headsets for pre-booking.
