At an event in China, LeEco (formerly called as Letv) announced their latest flagship phone the Le Max 2. Apart from this, the company also announced two other devices which are the successor of the popular Le 1S, the Le 2 and Le 2 Pro. The Le Max 2 is the flagship phone for the company and it sports a 5.7″ QHD screen (1,440 x 2,560px) and is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with a whopping 6GB of RAM.
The storage options for the phone includes 3GB and 64GB variants. The 32GB variant comes with 4GB of RAM while the 64GB has 6GB RAM.
The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EUI 5.5, which is company’s custom UI on top of Android. On the imaging front, the phone packs a massive 21MP shooter with an IMX230 sensor and optical image stabilization, f/2.0 aperture and phase detection AF. The front selfie camera is at 8MP. The Le Max 2 uses Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology.
On the connectivity front there is dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and, yes, USB Type-C. It also houses a 3100mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
The second phone announced today is the Le 2 which is the successor of Le 1S which was announced recently in India. The phone comes with 5.5″ Full HD display and is powered by MediaTek Helio X20 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The OS is Android 6.0 with EUI 5.5. On the imaging front there is 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera for selfies.
It also comes with usual connectivity options and has a fingerprint sensor, 3,000mAh battery with fast charge.
The third device launched today is the Le 2 Pro which is an upgraded version of Le 2 and comes with similar 5.5 inch Full Hd display, but is powered by Helio X5 Deca core chipset which is an overclocked version of X20 chipset. The phone has 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. On the imaging side, the phone has 21MP IMX230 sensor with phase detection AF and an 8MP selfie cam. Connectivity options are similar to the Le Max 2. The phone comes with a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging.
One of the major announcement from LeEco is the new USB C type audio port which is first of it’s kind on a smartphone. It uses CDLA (Continuous Digital Loseless Audio) technology where you need to plug into the USB C type port for listening to music.
Pricing:
The LeEco Le 2 is the cheapest of the three and priced at CNY 1,100 ($170/€150). The Le Pro is priced CNY 1,500 ($230/€205), while the flagship Le Max 2 is priced CNY 2,100 ($325/€285) for the 4GB/32GB version and CNY 2,500 ($385/€340) for the 6GB/64GB model. We expect these devices to come to India pretty soon considering the success of Le 1S in India.
