Vivo has announced their lastest flagship device in India, the Vivo V9. The new Vivo V9 is the success of Vivo V7 Plus launched last year. While the Vivo V7 Plus already had an 18:9 display, the V9 has gone a bit more futher with 19:9 display and a notch similar to the iPhone X. The device packs a 6.3 inch Full HD+ resolution display and is priced Rs
Here is the hands on and first impressions of the device.
Here is the unboxing of the device.
On the hardware front, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 626 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is again a selfie-centric smartphone with 24MP selfie camera. In terms of design and build quality, the Vivo V9 looks good. It has a glossy finish for the rear panel and is made of plastic material. Even though the body is plastic, it feels premium, thanks to the glossy finish. In terms of looks, the rear panel is quite similar to the recently launched Oppo F5 Blue edition.
While the finish looks premium, it is also a fingerprint magnet and you would end up cleaning the device quite often. The curved edges on the rear panel gives it a good feel when holding the device. Overall, the Vivo V9 feels good in hands.
One of the best features of the devcie is the display, the 6.3 inch Full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and the notch is a treat to use. The display is vibrant and crisp and offers good viewing angles. The touch response is also smooth. Vivo is offering the device with a pre-installed screen guard. The bezels are kept to minimal and you have the entire front panel as display and the navigational buttons are also on-screen. The notch at the top is smaller than what we have seen on iPhone X and it includes 24MP camera and also the sensors.
Vivo V9 may not be the slimmest of devices, but the company has managed to make it lightweight even though it is 6.3 inch in display size.
Another highlight of the device is the dual camera and this is the first dual camera smartphone from Vivo in India. It comes with a primary 16MP camera and secondary 5MP shooter with F/2.0 and LED flash. The rear camera performance was good and it offers good sharpness levels and details. It has definitely improved over the Vivo V7 Plus and Vivo V7. The camera interface is largely unchanged and sports the usual set of options.
The front camera on the device is the 24MP shooter with f/2.0 and screen flash. Here again you can see improvements in quality of selfies and also the portrait selfies have better edge detection. We will be posting the detailed camera review later.
On the software side, the Vivo V9 is powered by Android Oreo (8.1) with Fun Touch OS, which offers additional features like dual apps, gestures, one handed UI and more.
Under the hood, the device is powered by Snapdragon 626 Octa core processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The phone has triple slot which means it has dedicated SD card slot along with dual SIM card. The performance of the device was quite good and we did not see any sort of issues.
Vivo V9 is powered by 3260mAh battery which is a decent capacity but unfortunately there is no fast charging available. The bundled charger is 5V, 2A.
The Vivo V9 is priced Rs and will be available across India, both online and offline. We will be coming up with the detailed review soon, so stay tuned.
