Oppo has announced their latest smartphone in the Reno series, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro in India. The Reno 3 Pro comes with a quad camera set up. Reno 3 Pro also has the specialty that it packs a 44MP dual selfie camera, which is again first in India, so lets dive deep into the camera to see how it performs. So here is the Oppo Reno 3 Pro Camera review with camera samples.
In terms of camera hardware, it sports a quad rear camera with 64MP Ultra-clear primary Camera with F/1.8, you get a 13MP Telephoto Lens with F/2.4, then there is an 8MP Ultra Wide-angle Lens with 119.9° field of view and 2MP mono lens. There is also LED flash included.
The front camera is an 44MP camera with a f/2.4 aperture along with a 2MP depth sensor. So lets find out how the camera performs.
Video Quality:
The Oppo Reno 3 Pro can record in 1080p at 30fps with EIS and the footage looks quite good and the stabilization is also very good. The sharpness levels are quite good, but we felt it could have been tad better. The colors are spot on and there is absolutely no saturation issues. The phone also supports 1080p at 60fps along with 720P. Since it has a telephoto lens you can do digital zoom while doing video recording. You can go from ultra wide angle to 10Z digital zoom.
The phone also packs 8MP ultra wide angle camera and the video quality is strictly average. There is stabilization on offer though.
The phone can also do 4K at 30fps without stabilization and this is recommended only if you are not walking or moving since there is a lot of shake while in 4k. The phone also supports slow motion at 1080p at 30fps.
Photo Quality:
Moving to the photos, the daylight shots taken with the 64MP camera came out well. The important thing to note is the color reproduction which is closer to natural colors and does a good job. There is absolutely no saturation issues. The details are good since we have already seen this 64MP shooter on other phones. The sharpness levels are also good. There is good amount of details even when you zoom into the pictures.
There is also a dedicated 64MP mode where the images shot are in 64MP resolution and has almost 20MB in size. Here again they offer great details. There is auto HDR mode available and the dynamic range is good.
Another important feature of the Reno 3 Pro is the 13MP telephoto lens capable of upto 20X digital zoom. The 2X optical zoom and 5X hybrid zoom are very much usable while the 20X digital zoom is just to show the details and not great in quality.
The 8MP ultra wide angle shots came out average and it is no where close to what the primary camera offers. There is too much of softening towards the edges and the distortion is slightly on higher side.
The close up shots taken with the camera was good and it had good details, natural colors and also sharpness levels. The phone misses out on macro lens which is gaining popularity these days.
Moving to portrait shots, we felt that portraits are quite good, but it seems to over expose the background, while the subject has good details. The edge detection is also very good and we did not see any misses here.

The low light captures taken with the Reno 3 pro came out well in adequately lit conditions. There is noise reduction in place and at time it does tend to give a water color like effect. But the details aren’t bad though the sharpness could have been a tad better. There is night mode on offer, which definitely brings in more details and sharper images.
Moving to selfie camera, the 44MP shooter is the highlight of the device. It can shoot some really great selfies with excellent details, sharpness and colors. The dynamic range is also very good. If you are a selfie lover, you will definitely love this phone. The skin tones are good and so is the sharpness. We turned off the beauty mode since we like selfies without beauty. Since selfies are more of personal choice you can judge based on the clarity.
There is also portrait selfies, which again does an amazing job in edge detection with the secondary 2MP camera. So in short it is a selfie king.
Verdict:
So summing up, the Reno 3 Pro camera performance is definitely good in almost all areas except the ultra wide angle camera where the clarity was not great, both in photos and videos, but it can be fixed with software update. Oppo, with Reno 3 Pro, once again proves that they are the selfie expert with 44MP shooter which gives impressive selfies. All in all, the Reno 3 Pro has a good quad camera set up which wont disappoint you.
I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative
and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something which not enough people are
speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I stumbled across this in my search
for something relating to this.
