We all know that Instagram as a social networking and video-sharing platform has been a huge success. People are uploading millions of reels and videos to Instagram and this trend continues during the holiday season as most of the people will be on vacation. But you should know that Instagram has a time limit for all the videos and photos or reels uploaded to their platform. If the time limit is more than the one set by Instagram, it will automatically trim your video/reels and then post. So how to post longer videos on Instagram?

Here is the list of all the Instagram formats and their time limit:
- Instagram Live can last up to four hours.
- Instagram Stories can go up to 15 seconds.
- Instagram Videos on your feed can last up to 60 minutes.
- Instagram Reels, the most popular category, can last up to 90 seconds. There is also an option for a 60-second reel.
Can I post longer videos on Instagram?
As of now, you cannot post more than 90 seconds of reels on Instagram and there is also an option to post 60 seconds reel. If you are using a mobile phone to post videos to Instagram, you will be able to post only 15-minute videos as a post. But if you are using your desktop, you can post up to 60 minutes of video as an Instagram Post.
But some of the reels on Instagram might be more than 90 seconds in length. This happens when you are using third-party apps to edit videos and finally upload them to Instagram. If you are using the Instagram app’s camera, then it will be restricted to 90 seconds. On the other hand, videos posted as Instagram Stories can be up to 60 seconds, regardless of whether you record it directly with the Instagram camera or upload it separately.
If you are going live on Instagram, then you can probably go up to 4 hours with the live stream. If you want to post longer videos than the ones mentioned above, you will have to trim your videos. This can be done outside of Instagram or even in the Instagram editor. There is a trim feature available on the Instagram mobile and desktop app, but it has only limited features.
